Yelp is one of the most influential online review sites available today, and if you want to use Yelp to help boost your online reputation and visibility, you need to optimize your page correctly.
Some companies make the mistake in thinking that they can claim their business page and that’s all they need to do, but in order to successfully optimize your Yelp business page, you need to do the following.
1. Fill out your profile completely.
After claiming your page, the very next thing you need to do is to fill out your profile completely. Make sure that you add in as much information about your business as you can, such as your name, location, contact information, products/services, and anything else that is asked of you. The more information you can put on this page, the more keywords you’re adding to your site, and this will help your page earn visibility among the search engines.
2. Add keywords.
There’s an About This Business section on Yelp that allows you to add in your own content, so be sure to fill this section out with relevant keywords about your business, industry and general offerings. Use tools such as Google’s Keyword Tool to help you learn what keywords your audience is using, and then be sure to add those keywords to your content. This will help ensure that your Yelp page ends up on a search engine results page.
3. Customize your URL.
Yelp allows you to customize the URL listing for your Yelp page, so make sure that you do that. Your URL also serves as keywords for your business, and having a customized URL can help optimize your page for the search engines. IF you don’t customize your URL, it’s likely that you will be assigned a random set of numbers, and these numbers will not do anything for the optimization and visibility of your page.
4. Add backlinks.
Backlinks are also essential to your Yelp success. Make sure that you add links from your Yelp page to your actual website in order to help increase traffic and visibility.
5. Use photos.
Photos can be a great optimization tool that most companies overlook. First, your photos will attract your audience to check out your page, as most people tend to be visual. Second, you can add relevant keywords to the alt and meta tags of your images, and this helps to boost the keyword count on your page. Search engines will crawl through your images in search of keywords, and this will help to rank your site appropriately and earn more visibility.
6. Ensure contact information is correct.
Search engines such as Google are now starting to focus more on local optimization efforts, so it’s extremely important to ensure your contact information is correct. Always make sure that the address listed for your business is the right address, and always ensure the Map feature is correct. This way, when customers perform a search in your area, the contact information for your business will serve as keywords and allow customers to locate your company.
