The Least-Known Social Media Sites for Businesses

Using social media in business is as important as T.V was for advertising 30 years ago. It seems that using social media has become necessary for success in business, these days. Some social media platforms aren’t as used by businesses as others, however. While Facebook and Twitter are two of the most popular sites out there, there are plenty of other sites that still provide you a large audience, and can help increase your bottom line. Here are some of the top networking sites that are lesser used:

Google Plus

Google Plus has a lot of users, but many of them don’t use their account to its fullest. One of the best things about Google Plus is that you can choose with whom you’d like to share content. The “circles” feature allows you to separate the people that you connect with into different groups, according to how you know them. You can have a circle for business partners, clients, executives, acquaintances, etc. This helps you to target your audience more accurately and it will keep people interested in what you’re sharing. Using Google Plus will increase your company website’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization), which basically will get your website higher on Google searches. Google is an unbiased search engine, so naturally Google+ gets indexed well before any other social media site. This could be the tipping point to get your name  to rank quickly. It also helps people locate your company on Google maps, better. They’ll be able to find your business much easier, that way. Utilizing Google+ could have a much bigger effect on your business than any other social media site, so use it to its full capacity.

Another underutilized social media site is Reddit. There are limited spam comments on Reddit, which keeps its users happy with the site. It’s also very easy to share news, and increase your company’s popularity. Reddit users will go online share information about the company and interact with you, and with each other. This makes it a great tool to hear customer feedback and to show off your customer service skills. If you see that someone doesn’t like your product, talk with them, interact and help them solve their problems. You can create your own community and create new networks, which makes Reddit one of the better social media sites for businesses to use. Other than just providing news, Reddit is a great place to find new pages and companies to follow, review businesses, and get content to go viral.

I realize that blogging isn’t really a website, but it’s still a great platform for you to connect with your audience, in a way that the other sites don’t. With a good blog you can take polls, read comments, post pictures and videos, too. Blogs allow you to share more information than something like Twitter for example, and they allow you to keep your audience up to date on everything that the company is doing. Make sure to update your blog frequently, and try to improve your writing skills before embarking on your new blogging adventure. In business, the key to a successful blog isn't always aboutwriting about your company. It is a way for you to connect with your readers on another level. Give them something they would want to read.

There are plenty of other ways to get your company’s name out there, other than Twitter and Facebook. Going on other social media sites will open your company up to newer and broader audiences, which will help you increase your business. Use all of your sources, expand your audience and get more business, in return.
