Not owning the domain

Unless you are blogging for fun, if you are serious you need to make money online from your blog, then you have to own your very own domain name. This is very important because you get total control over the blog. Avoid sub-domain names such as yourname.blogspot.com. While at it, it would be wise to search engine optimize the blog's URL meaning that if your niche is acne, then the domain name should be optimized with at least one or two main keywords that you are targeting.

Not including your info i.e. author bio on your blog

How else are you going to convince your readers that you are a real human being if you do not add credibility to your blog? This you simply do by adding an author bio with your picture and a little information about yourself. This doesn’t mean you dedicate an entire page on your personal information; rather you give your readers an insight of who they are actually dealing with.

Lack of permalinks on all your posts

A permalink is simply a link that redirects you to the main page of each specific post on your blog. You must have clicked on a link for a specific post only to be redirected to the same old homepage so that you can start searching for the specific post that you want. This happens a lot and it is a grave mistake made by most new bloggers in the industry.

Broken and useless links

Yes, this is a very common mistake made by most bloggers who are just getting started. Always test that your links are live and active before you publish your posts. It can be very frustrating to publish broken links. While still at it, ensure you let your readers know exactly what the link is for n the post. What can be worse than clicking on a link only to be redirected on a totally different post?
