Avoiding Spyware: 5 Tips and Tricks

Spyware is a threat all over the world. Criminals are tapping into spyware as a resource to help them separate you from your money. If you're concerned about spyware on your computer and you're ready to do something about it, knowledge about what spyware is and how to avoid it is one of your greatest assets. First and foremost, if you want to avoid spyware, you'll also want to avoid freeware, or software that you can download online for free. For example, downloading a free screen saver that makes it look like you have little birds flying all over your screen or a cursor that looks like a skull or a cat's paw can seem really cool, but make you vulnerable to spyware. Freeware often (but not always) involves a functional and utilitarian piece of software with cool features and spyware riding piggyback that will install and run in the background without your knowledge. Avoiding freeware, as a general rule, will help protect you from falling prey to spyware. Online gaming sites and pornography sites are dangerous places for your personal computer. Gaming and pornography web sites inevitably will lead you into the lion's den because so many of them are...

Effective Communication Methods in IT Support

Anyone who has any project management experience will know that one of the biggest weaknesses in most companies and projects is communication. I.T. departments are frequently at the centre of a company’s operations and are often under pressure with work load. With companies being very technology based and with everything being produced on computers, the speed at which work can be achieved is phenomenal. A company’s ability to communicate internally and externally can be the difference between success and failure. Let's take a look at some of the ways communication methods in IT support can and cannot work. Different types of communication methods It is strange but communication is often the driving force that causes people to start companies. Companies often need to communicate a new idea or tell about a new product. The heart at the centre of the start- up company is often lost as they become bigger. The relaxed communication styles such as popping round to see the I.T team when something goes wrong is often frowned upon in modern business. The high pressure of modern business means that most communication is done by email. Sometimes people are so busy they only address people by the initial of...

How Can You Profit from the WEEE regulations?

The WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) legislation introduced in the UK in 2007 is aimed at reducing the amount of electronic waste entering landfill. Every piece of electronic equipment contains small amounts of bromine, cadmium, and mercury, and 99.9 percent of ALL electronic-equipment waste is now classed as hazardous. Consumers can actually profit from these regulations, providing they know what to do and where to go. The Advance of Technology 20 years ago few people owned a computer, and even less a mobile phone. Now, some 92 percent of all adults in the UK have a mobile device of one type or another, and more than 70 percent of that number upgrade to the latest handsets at least once a year in. if you're like most people who regularly use mobile phones, you tend to hang on to the old handsets after you have got the latest model; as a result, you’ll probably have a few floating round the house.  The best way to sell HTC Desire HD and other mobile handsets is by way of an online dealer. Chances are you have an internet connection at home or at work and can spare five minutes of your time. All...

VOIP is a cutting edge technology pivotal for every business type

Voice over internet protocol was invented by Danny Cohen in 1973. Since then the system has met demands of quality voice over communications. By 1986 various standard organizations were asking for its services for commercial purpose. In 1995 the first internet phone software got released to meet these demands; however, the major development occurred in 2004 when mass market VOIP service was introduced. They worked pretty much like public switched telephone networks in infrastructure but were better than them in quality of services. Ever since then there has been no looking back for the VOIP providers.    At first hand a VOIP may seem yet another communication technology to reach the farfetched consumer markets and business partners however, this statement does not justify VOIP. The immense growth of VOIP ever since 1973, revels that it has been much more than just another communication device. I was introduced to VOIP by VOIPdito hosted business VOIP conference at a business meet. There I got to know about the several advantages of using a Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) in a business. I would try to discuss these benefits briefly in this article.   To start from, the biggest advantage of VOIP over standard...
