Connecting a Subdomain to a Domain

Bringing a subdomain together with a domain can be easy and it can be difficult. Being in Long Island means there are plenty of businesses that are working to bring their websites to the top of their search pages, and they may be looking for a way to do so in a natural an organic way. This can often be done when websites are built to bring the image of a company together and a big way of doing this is with a Blog.

Companies an easily connect blogs to their websites by a few different ways. I know plenty of businesses are trying to think of the best ways to add a blog and there are a few different ways. The three ways a Long Island business can do that is by adding a subdomain, a subfolder or even a separate domain entirely. There are a few drawbacks and a bunch of positive pieces too.

A good thing about a subdomain is being able to backlink to your site. This is something that a lot of companies want to do. Backlinking is a good idea to bring more business to your site. This is true for using other websites too for being able linkback to your site. It can help Google learn that other sites are pointing back to your site and that your site is a good reputable one. This is definitely good in the eyes of Google.

Now, a good thing about using a subfolder is that the pagerank of the main domain will blanket over the subfolder because it is connected the same way. This is not the case for the subdomain as it needs its own pagerank to grow. So that means you have to link and grow on your own. Could take longer, but if backlinks are the important part, then you definitely need to do that quickly and efficiently. The sooner you start with backlinks, the better.

On the other hand the part about subfolders that isn’t good is the fact that you can’t backlink. So in the end it depends on what you want to do with your website. So try it out and see what works best, in the end 301 it if need be.

Make sure you do your research before doing any of these things. It’s important to know what you are doing before you do it just in case something happens that you aren’t able to handle.

Good luck!
