Do You Have an iPad Yet: Why You Should Invest in One

Do You Have an iPad Yet: Why You Should Invest in One
Take a look around your home and ask yourself one thing: what is the one thing that I use almost every day that is seriously holding me back from living a life of smoothness and fun? It’s your laptop. Luckily for you and everyone else who has a slow laptop, you can pick up an iPad for a fraction of what it would cost to buy a comparable laptop. So if you’re in the market for a new iPad and are wondering if it’ll be worth it, here are three things that should change your mind for the better: It's Sleeker Than Your Laptop You big piece of plastic thing is super ugly, and if it weren’t for the keyboard, you could easily mistake it for a dog’s chew toy. All kidding aside, your cheap laptop is a big eye sore, and you quickly try and stuff it under your table whenever you get the chance. Your iPad, on the other hand, is a beautiful work of art. It’s a masterpiece. It’s very pretty. It sparkles when light hits it at all different angles. Yes, it’s quite brilliant. But it’s not even just the form factor that’s better, it’s the screen...

How to Find the Perfect Web Host that Can Handle Your Wildest Dreams

How to Find the Perfect Web Host that Can Handle Your Wildest Dreams
Godaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost. These are all web hosting services that people look to when trying to find the perfect hosting for their newly minted website. Which one should you choose? Which one is better than the others? Which one offers the best service? Which one is the most affordable? Well, I’m here to let you in on a little secret: they’re all one of the same; they’re all practically the same. The one area that they differ? Admin panel integration and quality of service. Other than those two things, you’ll find that all of them offer almost the same frills. But rather than just say “just pick one,” I’ll let you know which one or ones are our favorite over the others in the industry. Which is the Easiest to Use? This title has to go to the big boy in the industry: Godaddy. Its admin panel is neatly organized, clear, and concise. While the other web hosting services have nice admin panels as well, Godaddy has really done the best job in making your experience fluid and easy. Domain purchasing and hosting plans are also quite easy to figure out, and you’ll be on your way to having a...

What is Social Business? Are Social Businesses Exactly What the World Needs Right Now?

What is Social Business? Are Social Businesses Exactly What the World Needs Right Now?
There are countless businesses out there right now, and quite a lot of them would have you know that they’re in the picture purely for profit. This is entirely fine in the grand scheme of business ethics and strategy, but is focusing on nothing but profit the only way to achieve success? Not necessarily. In fact, with the emergence of more and more not-for-profit organizations proving that philanthropy is not dead and that it can be a force for good, businesses should be looking in this direction, at least partially, anyway. So what is social business? What makes this so special? Addressing Social Objectives are the Reason for Their ExistenceRather than a purely profit-driven motive, social businesses are in business to help solve a problem that is impacting society as a whole, a group of people, or even its own company or niche of business.Attempting to enhance the way people function in a particular group is something that can never go without notice, but it often does. While a company doesn’t often dedicate 100 percent of its resources to solving this social problem, it will focus one or more of its team to get the job done.If the objective is finally met...

3 Article Writing Tips that Will Surely Keep Your Work Getting Published

3 Article Writing Tips that Will Surely Keep Your Work Getting Published
Getting articles published is one of the most important things for a writer, whether you’re new to the game or a veteran. You see, getting published just one of the few ways that a writer can stamp his/her mark on the Internet, which is one of the most important places to be seen. While newspapers and magazines are quite important for getting your name in print, websites are perhaps just as important, depending on their standing with the rest of the writing world. So if you’re looking for ways to make sure your articles always get scooped up by the sites that matter most, here are three tips that will serve you well: Proof Your Work Several Times There’s nothing worse than sending an incredibly important article to a quality publication and noticing a part that is incorrect. This feeling is worse than poison, and once you’ve sent it off, there’s little you can do to solve the situation. Rather than have to go through that, you need to read over your work several times to make sure you’ve caught all of the errors that may be present. More often than not, you won’t catch an error on your first run...

Top 3 Web Design Tips for the New Website Builder to Follow

Top 3 Web Design Tips for the New Website Builder to Follow
Building a website from scratch isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but once you get rolling and have a completed site right before your eyes, there’s little out there that can match that feeling of accomplishment. But even though it can be rewarding and a fun experience, there are still things you need to look out for so you don’t run into any unnecessary problems with your design. So if you’re looking into building a proper site, here are 3 things to keep in mind: Clean, Efficient, Bold These are the three ideals that you should keep in mind when building your site. You want it to have a clean look so it doesn’t look too busy, which is an efficient use of space. But you also want it to be unique and bold at the same time. If your site doesn’t hold anything in these areas, you should do some serious thinking as to what you can do to fix this. But let that scare you into thinking you need to reinvent the wheel, because you don’t. Use What’s Familiar If you don’t know how to use Dreamweaver like the pros use, don’t sit there and pretend to know....

3 Things to Keep in Mind When Building a New Wordpress Site

3 Things to Keep in Mind When Building a New Wordpress Site
Opening a new Wordpress site is tough work, but it should also be a pretty rewarding experience if you do it correctly. Unlike other website platforms that don’t really offer much in the way of customization and overall ease of use, Wordpress is accessible to most people who know how to use computers. But even though it’s fairly simple to pick up, there are things you need to consider so you know you’re not wasting your time. If you’re thinking about starting your own website using Wordpress, here are three things you’ll want to keep in mind: Never Use Outdated Themes or Plugins Wordpress is always updating, and the same goes with themes and plugins. If none of your stuff is updating, you have a problem! Rather than just sit back and hope things turn out for the better, you should take a stand against having themes and plugins that will become ancient in a matter of weeks. Remember that if Wordpress takes a major leap forward, you’ll be left behind with your broken theme and inactive plugins. This is just not a good thing to encounter when you’re just getting started with website building. Update Your Wordpress Main Regularly The...

3 Wordpress Tips that Could Save You From Disaster

3 Wordpress Tips that Could Save You From Disaster
It seems like everyone is interested in creating their own website these days, doesn’t it? You hear all of these stories about how much money people make, and you just think to yourself: “I want to be a part of that! I’m doing it!” Then you cast yourself out on a plane of uncertainty. You have no idea what you’re doing, but you’re still determined to make it work. This is what the average Wordpress website builder is thinking about and encounters. But it’s this very thing that could cast into the depths of despair. You will quickly realize that everything is not bubblegum and rainbows. But don’t let that stop you. Here are three tips to keep you from jumping into the deep end: Shop Around for Themes Don’t use free themes. Just don’t. They’re not worth your time, and they look terrible usually. Since you’ll likely have this website for quite some time, you want it to look as good as possible. And for $30 or so for a theme, it’s worth every penny. Don’t cheap out on a proper web design. And it will be easier to control as well. Do Regular Site Maintenance It’s still a real...

3 Ways to Keep Your Wordpress Site Ahead of the Curve

3 Ways to Keep Your Wordpress Site Ahead of the Curve
Wordpress has quickly become one of the most-used platforms to build websites with, and it’s not just by error, either. You see, Wordpress offers users the chance to customize their websites (and build them from scratch, essentially), which would not have happened otherwise. In fact, Wordpress gives anyone the chance to create beautiful and functional websites without the need for a web design or coding background. Since most people couldn’t code in Java or C++ if their lives depended on it, Wordpress offers all the bells and whistles of a nice site without having to slave through textbooks and what might as well be Chinese to most people. While creating and setting up your own personal Wordpress site is fairly simple, there are things you should know to take full advantage of your time. Here are three great ways to make your Wordpress stand out from the rest: Research What the Market is Using in Terms of Plugins If you don’t know what a Wordpress plugin is, start Googling right now. It’s essentially a way to enhance or tweak your Wordpress site, and all you need to download the plugin and upload it to your site directory. Done. It’s super easy....

Ready to Start a Great Wordpress Site? Here’s What to Avoid to Make Life Easier

Ready to Start a Great Wordpress Site? Here’s What to Avoid to Make Life Easier
If you've been thinking about creating your own Wordpress site, there's a good chance that you've done your homework. But you can do all the research you want, and you may still not know everything without actually trying it.This is where a seasoned Wordpress pro like myself comes in to save the day. Here's you should not do when creating a Wordpress site:Don't Expect to Make MoneyIf your sole purpose for creating a new website with help from Wordpress is the get rich quick, you should try something else.Sure, you can definitely get some nice money out of it with ads eventually, but it takes awhile. Try thinking about two years or more to start making serious money from your website. If you're cool with that reality, keep reading.Don't Use Free ThemesFree themes are terrible. Some of them may look okay, but they're still awful. You know why? Because they look like carbon copies of a generic Wordpress site. Your goal here is to make sure your site DOESN'T look like a Wordpress site. By using a free theme, you also lack the functionality you get from premium themes. It's only $30 or so, so don't cheap out. Your site will be an important...

The Art of Inspiring People to Tweet and Share Your Content

The Art of Inspiring People to Tweet and Share Your Content
It really is an art form. It's believed that only about 10 percent of content on the web gets shared via social media outlets. This would lead you to believe that only the best and most insightful content gets distributed. So how can you take advantage of the social media train? Well, quite simply, you need to actually write meaningful content. Sounds silly, but people often wonder why nobody shares their stuff when their content is completely useless. If you would like to create shareable content, here's what you need to do: Think About a Subject that Isn't as Popular Writing an article on how to play baseball is next to useless at this point, because there are thousands of them already. What can you say that hasn't already been said? Probably not much, if anything. But if you wrote an article about the best ways to skip rope while juggling pies, you'd have a much better shot at being original, thus making it more sharable. Make sense? Once you find a subject that you're passionate about and can provide readers with plenty of useful information, you can write hundreds of meaningful words that are sure to get passed around. Choose...

How to Get Stupid Morons to Read Your Awesome Articles

How to Get Stupid Morons to Read Your Awesome Articles
See how I got you in here? I used an edgy headline. That’s one of the keys to getting people to read your articles. If my headline read “how to get people to read your articles,” you probably would have just skipped over it, right? I’m not saying you need to be a jerk all the time, but with the right headline, you can get people to read anything. I when I say anything, I mean anything. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen pretty good articles with absolutely terrible headlines. It’s a shame, because the article was good but nobody read it because the headline didn’t grab anybody. This is journalism 101 stuff here, and if you can master the art of headline writing, you’re well on your way to being a master of article writing. But it’s not enough to just writing great headlines, you need to have great content. There’s this thing called “the inverted pyramid.” The inverted pyramid is a design tool used by journalists to make sure their content is read fast and clearly. If you had an article that had a long, drawn-out introduction and THEN went into the real meat and potatoes...

The Key to Affiliate Marketing Success is?

The Key to Affiliate Marketing Success is?
…don’t think about affiliate marketing being the key to success. Sounds crazy, but it’s true. If you’re constantly thinking about your many avenues for revenue, you’ll just drive yourself crazy. The key to affiliate marketing is to virtually “set it and forget it,” if I may quote that silly infomercial with the rotisserie oven made by Ronco. The best thing to do is get started with your Amazon affiliate program, or whichever one you prefer, optimize it so people can go straight to it without hassle, and leave it be. Check what you earn after each week just to see if you need to optimize it better, but that should be the only time you’re checking it. People choose affiliate marketing because it yields high reward with moderate to minimal effort. Starting an affiliate marketing site is tough at first, but once the ball is rolling, you just sit back and watch people click your links and buy stuff. When it comes down to what makes you the most money, it is generating traffic and making users want to read your content. How does this help with people buying your affiliate products? Well, it’s simple, really. Since you look like an...

Infographics are Your Key to Success or Disaster

Infographics are Your Key to Success or Disaster
Making a quality infographic pays off in dividends if you know what you’re doing. What can be conveyed in text can be conveyed way more effectively in a graphical image. While great infographics can show an audience exactly what they need to know in one neatly placed ordering, they can also hurt your entire agenda if you don’t carefully watch what you’re doing. Here’s what I mean: A Proper Infographic is Killer for Generating Interest If you’re good at graphic design and using programs like Photoshop, you can create an intoxicating swirl of information and eye-catching shapes that will make an audience gravitate to your stuff. A good infographic also has the ability to suck in an audience that wouldn’t normally care about a subject because of the lack of interesting visuals. All of this makes using infographics for discussing a particularly boring subject all the more better. But… A Poorly Crafted Infographic is Killer for Losing Interest Now and in the Future A poorly crafted infographic can mean a number of things, but the biggest faults are ugly graphics, lack of creativity and awful grammar and spelling. While lack of creativity or talent may be unavoidable with some people, not...

Why You Shouldn’t Write Crappy Blog Posts

Why You Shouldn’t Write Crappy Blog Posts
While the most obvious answer is "if you write a crappy blog post, it just won't get read," there is more to it than that. Writing a blog post or article really shouldn't be forced, and if you're feeling time's claws squeezing the life out of you and you still have no good and valuable ideas, take a step back and relax for a little while. Since a blog post or article is essentially an extension of your personal thoughts, you don't want your thoughts sounding idiotic at best. Even still, it's much, much more than that. Why shouldn't you write a bad article or guest post? Well, quite simply, you'll lose all credibility in the future when it comes time to write a meaningful piece. It might sound silly to believe that your entire writing career hangs in the balance of one post, but it is essentially true. Unless you're writing solely for SEO purposes, that one bad post will always be floating around on the Internet. And we know how it feels to be trapped in the Internet, much like how Rick Santorum feels when you Google his name. Anyway… Here are some tips to keep your posts focused...
